17/04: A Fork in the Road

1 Kings 9:1-9

Solomon built God’s temple in 7 years (1 Kings 6:38) but he built his own palace in 13 years (1 Kings 7:1). In v1 it was written as which he (pleased to do), I’m just reflecting if Solomon when he was building His own temple has already started to show signs of him falling away from God and that’s one of the reason why God appeared to Solomon again after he built the temple and his palace. God’s warning to him of course was out of love, that with all the wisdom and success that Solomon had, to remember that obedience is more important than sacrifice. It is your heart that God wants and God wants our heart so that He can make it whole. If left to our own (like Solomon in his later years) we will follow our own passion and desires and eventually give up on God and worship idols.

Dear God, pray that I will follow You faithfully all the days of my life. Warn me if I am wandering away from you, with your Holy Spirit or faithful brothers and sisters like Nathan is to David and pray that I stay humble enough to listen and to change.
